For May, as my recovery from surgery enabled me to return to the pool for swimming, I found myself (and Melissa) often going to our YMCA Pool where we did laps, either through swimming or walking. We went swimming on seven different days in the month, including once at Daytona Beach. I think my swimming endurance is improving, and my use of a snorkel should come in great use when tackling the longer lap lanes they provide. I kept up both my running and speed-walking, both at home and in races. I participated in our local weekly (and free) Depot Parkrun 5K four out of the month's five Saturdays, two as runs, one a speed-walk...and one as a volunteer. The other Saturday morning (the 24th) was spent at Westside Park...now known officially as Albert Ray Massey Park. On the fourth Saturday each month a group calling itself US Road Running holds a multi-distance race on that site. It was the second time I ran it, again at the 10K distance. I've also spent a number of late mornings and early afternoons traversing a course I created for myself within my own neighborhood and the adjacent one...that's helped a lot. And...I am gradually increasing some adjunct routines like pushups, jumping jacks, skipping (good for developing sprinting capability), and some physical therapy exercises. May was a good month for me, and since June will doubtless get hotter here in north Florida I'm confident that I'll be doing even more walking and swimming in it...
