About My Dear Departed Sister-in-Law Krista

Krista Jane Bailey, my sister-in-law, passed away last Wednesday evening, July 9th, at E.T. York Hospice Center in Gainesville after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.  She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and sister and will be terribly missed by all of us in her family.  Krista was my wife Melissa's little sister by thirteen months...she was 62.  Krista is survived by her daughter Amy Holley, sister Melissa Irwin, brother Keith Jones and granddaughter Tabytha Holley.  Her husband James Bailey had tragically died in December 2021...the two were inseparable, life-long soul mates.  I miss Krista's wonderful sense of humor and love of life...she was a great source of comfort to Melissa after the tragic death of our own son Will last year.  She was a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant with an associate degree, and spent many years employed in retail management.  For much of the last two decades she had lived in Lexington, Kentucky with James, who had many of his own family living there. I am tired of losing family members, and the loss of Will, James and Krista has been difficult for me to accept.  I have never experienced anyone like Krista before who was so positive and gracious during her final weeks and days, when hope for a cure for her leukemia dwindled and, finally, was relinquished when she was transferred to spend her final days at Hospice.  God bless her, and may God bless you as well...
