This morning's Depot Parkrun 5K here in Gainesville, a few blocks south of downtown, was special to me. Not only was Melissa walking it, but our 34-year-old son Will walked the 3.1 mile, 4-lap distance with us for the first time after recent back surgery...way to go, Will! For me, I walked with them the first 2½ laps and...seeing that their Gatorade was running out on this blistering hot and humid morning more indicative of summer than spring...finished it with a fast run and then got another chilled bottle out of the car for them as they were finishing up. My final time of 49:27 reflected this hybrid of primarily social walking with running...worth it all! If you want to see the results for today's event, click HERE. Gainesville's Depot Parkrun is held almost every Saturday morning at 7:30 and is part of a worldwide network of hundreds of Parkruns, which originated in England a few years ago. It's free and volunteer-run...you can just run or walk with the others if you want or, better, sign up online and get your own barcode for them to scan at the end to have your results posted and stored online. Today was my 44th Parkrun finish since I began it in 2019...
