Five years ago at this time Melissa, Will and I were having a great time visiting Chicago...the above picture was taken at the Navy Pier there by Lake Michigan. It's still hard for me to fathom the loss of my dear, wonderful son. Melissa is also deeply in grief, not to mention enduring difficult postoperative chemotherapy for her breast cancer. It's been a very sad and tough summer for us, and the months ahead promise to pose their own challenges as well. But for us still here with our lives to live...and I include my beloved daughter Rebecca...while it is important to recognize our own universal physical mortality, feeling and expressing gratitude for what we do have in this limited time allotted for us is also necessary, deriving joy from one another and appreciating the simple pleasures of existence while living in the present moment. May you likewise enjoy and cherish your own life as well...
